In
2009, Brandywine Ballet donated 150 complimentary tickets to United
Way. Founded in 1921 by the business community, United Way of
Southeastern Pennsylvania (UWSEPA) improves people’s lives by mobilizing
the caring power of donors, volunteers and communities; it is one of
the region’s largest non-profit organizations. UWSEPA’s Campaign for
Mentors (CFM) was founded in 1989 as an advocate for the expansion of
mentoring and a resource for mentors and mentoring programs. As a local
affiliate of MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership, its mission is to
foster a mentor-rich environment and a culture of high-quality mentoring
in the Greater Philadelphia region. CFM works with more than 85
different mentor programs (Mentor Providers Network) throughout the
region by promoting mentoring relationships through media campaigns and
providing technical assistance and training to programs. Through CFM's
ticket clearinghouse, UWSEPA distributes donated tickets for cultural,
educational and sporting events to mentor/mentee pairs affiliated with
our Mentor Providers Network, which allow approximately 5,000 young
people and their mentors to spend quality time together in affordable
activities.
