Mission Statement
To be a leader and creative force in the regional community by training exceptional ballet dancers who, in partnership with professional dancers and choreographers, inspire, challenge and educate audiences and artists to reach new levels of experiencing the art of ballet.

About The Brandywine Ballet Theatre
The Brandywine Ballet Theatre was established in l999 as a fully professional division of the Brandywine Ballet Company. A separate audition is held for high school age dancers who qualify technically for this rigorous training and performance schedule the theatre program demands. The goal of this ensemble is to give young dancers, with professional aspirations, the opportunity to perform as a professional company right in their own community working side by side with paid professional dancers and respected and established recognized choreographers. In the Spring of 2004, BBT dancers had the exceptional opportunity to perform Concerto Barocco, with permission from The George Balanchine Trust, New York City Ballet and the coaching of Victoria Simon.

The Brandywine Ballet Theatre is under the Artistic Direction of Donna L. Muzio. Artistic staff for the 2007-2008 season also includes Nancy Page and Scott Jovovich.

The Brandywine Ballet Theatre brings the best of innovative contemporary choreography and outstanding classical repertoire to residents of Chester County in their home at the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall in the Philips Memorial Auditorium on the campus of West Chester University.

Brandywine Ballet Theatre Auditions
Admission into the BBT is ongoing throughout the year by private audition. The Artistic Staff strongly recommends that a dancer be 15 years old to be considered for admission into the BBT, but reserves the right to invite anyone as young as age 14 that they feel is technically ready. Interested dancers outside of the BBC Organization should call the BBT office at 610-692-6402 to arrange for an audition time.

About the Brandywine Ballet Company
The Brandywine Ballet Company, a non-profit organization, was founded in l978 by Artistic Director, Donna L. Muzio. The company presents three performance series per year and maintains a growing repertoire enriched annually by the inclusion of new works by nationally recognized choreographers. The company's repertoire of over 80 ballets includes four full-length classical ballets: Coppelia, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and a full length Carmina Burana set with West Chester University School of Music's orchestra and vocalists.

The company roster includes student dancers who sign yearly contracts with the company, after acceptance by audition, as well as paid professional guest artists who perform the principal roles of the pieces being performed. Auditions for dancers, ages ll and older, are held each fall for Senior, Junior, and Apprentice members, and are open to all tri-state area students who qualify technically.

In addition to presenting at least three series of quality productions per year, the Brandywine Ballet Company provides the community with free summer performances, reduced rates to schools and senior citizens groups, summer workshops, and master classes for all the surrounding dance community.

The Dance Center in West Chester is the Official School of The Brandywine Ballet Company. The Brandywine Ballet receives support from many individual, corporate, and government sources including the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, West Chester University, and the Chester County Conference and Visitor's Bureau to name a few.
